New article by Dr. Sun and Jill Gonet accepted by the Qi Journal.
Congratulations to Dr. Guan-Cheng Sun and Jill Gonet, M.F.A. on the acceptance of their article, The Art of Internal Observation and Panoramic Knowing: Laozi's Classic on the Way of Virtues, into the Qi Journal.
The authors provide easily accessible reading of the Dao De Jing which is so practical and so vivid, you can feel and experience the state of "Xuan" in your body and your mind while you are reading this article. They bring to our attention fresh perspectives and unique interpretations that are helpful and provocative for internal cultivators. The commentary is stimulating and inspiring. Reading this new translation of the part of the Dao De Jing by Dr. Sun and Ms. Gonet gives a sense of joy, peace and surprise on the depth of meditation and spiritual development.
The De, or the development of virtues, is central to Laozi's teaching about the Dao or the Way. The core teaching of the Dao De Jing is about understanding and following the Dao for establishing virtues. Much of the teaching of the Dao De Jing has been lost in the many and various translations, since most of its translators have not been, generally, well-versed in the tradition of internal cultivation. In this article, the authors elucidate an interpretation of the Dao De Jing as a profound guidebook on the internal cultivation process and how the process of internal cultivation deepens, and communion with the Dao deepens, as a way of developing virtues. In part one of the article, the authors present the text as a guidebook for internal cultivation; in part two, the focus is on the Dao De Jing as a guidebook for the development of virtues, and on how the virtues are the embodiment of realized Dao.
The Qi journal, Volume 18 Spring issue, 2008 will be coming out next week. I hope you will enjoy reading this new translation of part of the Dao De Jing...
