The Functions of Regular Practice

Yi Ren® Qigong provides knowledge, techniques and an integrated series of Qigong
exercises for healing and self-development. We emphasize that every practitioner
holds the primary responsibility for their own health and well-being. The results of
healing, self-development, and personal growth will come about through continued,
regular practice.
In the last two quarters, many of our advanced practitioners felt aware that some were
not practicing regularly at home, were not making progress, but still
participated in weekly classes. They felt this held the group energy down sometimes
during class. I have discussed this issue with some individuals, and in order for
everyone to have a better understanding of the functions of regular practice, I would
like to share the following with all Qigong practitioners:
1. We activate the internal power station and other energy centers at our beginning
class. Regular practice helps to keep the internal power station on, and increases our
sensitivity and awareness levels of the internal energy flow. If you do not practice
regularly at home in the beginning, the internal power station can easily turn off.
2. Regular practice increases the internal energy levels, and stimulates the self-healing
programs in the body, promoting the healing process. If you do not practice
regularly, the healing process cannot be completed in many cases.
3. Continued regular practice elevates the energy levels and develops the internal
power lines between the internal power station and the internal organs, forming an
effective bio-energy-information system. It is the bridge for communications
between the mind and the consciousness of the body, and for communications
between different people, and between people and their environment at the energetic
level. So, if you practice regularly, you are able to develop both the mind and the
body.
4. Some practitioners have reported that their regular home practice seems like a
great personal retreat before or after a day's hard work. They enjoy a great relaxed
state, and an energizing sensation, as well as feeling that all the stress and tension
disappears after they finish their home practice.
5. In general, in modern civilized culture, people have been trained intellectually
rather than intuitively, so our mind is used to being outwardly directed all the time.
No matter how hard our body may try to send signals or messages to the mind,
telling the mind what is wrong in our activities, or events, or even in a dangerous
situation, the mind cannot see it, and cannot hear it. Many people often use the
body over its capacity, and unconsciously abuse the body all the time. That is why
people get sick. So, regular practice helps practitioners to bring the intellectual and
intuitive mind together. As practitioners orient their awareness within the body, and
synchronize the mind with the consciousness of the body, the mind is then able to
see the body's intelligence, and hear the body's signals again.
6. Regular practice helps the internal organs to achieve a harmonized state.
Practitioners experience internal peace and joy with regular practice. And they also
experience that knowledge and wisdom not only come from outside of us, but also
from inside of us; the intuition is actually the expression of the intelligence of the
body.
7. In many cases, practitioners have noticed that regular practice not only helps
personal growth, but also promotes the development of collective energy and
consciousness. When one person is practicing at home regularly, it actually benefits
all family members and the whole energetic group. Therefore, regular Qigong
practice is so meaningful and significant for human development and collective well-
being.
8. Regular practice develops qualities of energy, patience, respect, acceptance,
openness, compassion, and caring about other people. And this comes about as we
experience our connectedness to the whole, learn to love ourselves better, and also
because we have the power, and energetic support to develop those qualities.
In conclusion, the Yi Ren® system of Qigong is designed to help people to become
aware of and understand their body's functions and to assist people to become
better functioning human beings. Once the body is more functional, perceptions
come not only from the mind, but also from the body, allowing us to be more
effective and productive in our lives.
Please remember that healing, and self-development will come about through
continued, regular practice for 40 minutes a day, at least three days a week. Simply,
no regular practice means no results, no personal growth, and no self-development.
In addition, the collective energy field is much stronger than each individual's energy
field. So, it will be more beneficial for personal and collective growth if practitioners
participate in group practice regularly, such as study groups and our weekly classes.
Yi Ren® Qigong is accessible to everyone who is interested in healing, and personal
growth. I hope that with a regular and disciplined practice, all are able to experience
and enjoy it fully and become a better or completely functioning human being.
