My Experience of Yi Ren Qigong practice

I was diagnosed in December of 1996 with Stage 3 non-Hodgkin's lymphoma; B-cell, slow growing. At the time no treatment was offered by my oncologist so I started looking for alternative treatments for cancer. Knowing nothing about qigong but told it was used in China to treat cancer, I signed up for a ten week Yi Ren Qigong class with Dr. Sun and Bill Fouts. By the 8th week, the tumor I had had in my right groin for 6 years disappeared and I stayed in remission for eight years. Recently, in the summer of 2005, another tumor showed up in the left groin. After all the diagnostics tests, I was told that my lymphoma had transformed from a slow-growing type to a more aggressive type, large cell lymphoma. My oncologist recommended a course of chemotherapy and radiation. He assured me that this treatment regime had a 75% chance of a cure. What does cure mean? Cure means a 5 year survival rate.
My own experience of using Yi Ren Qigong to go into remission the last time I dealt with cancer validates the use of Qigong as my primary instrument for working with my cancer. I will not follow the oncologist's recommendations; I feel that Qigong could "cure" me – that is, give me a five year survival rate without any of the toxicity or physiological destruction of chemotherapy and radiation. My oncologist could not give me any statistics of people who chose other methods to heal their lymphoma because there has been no research on this group.
When one has cancer and is looking into alternative treatments for cancer – there is a mind boggling amount of therapies, supplements and diets which all make claims for healing cancer. Not only do I use Yi Ren Qigong as my primary tool for self-healing, I also use it as a means for sensitizing to what feels good and right for my body. One has to be both selective and flexible – making adjustments and changes as the body makes changes. My practice of Qigong has helped me develop a clear reception on a bodily level so I can better navigate the many choices I must make for dedicating to my health.
Yi Ren Qigong also provides a meditative anchor during this difficult time. I access very deep and still states of being when I do my Qigong exercises. I do not believe that I could have the self-confidence or ability to go without conventional treatments unless I felt very rooted in myself from my practice and personal experience that the body can be catalyzed to heal itself.
Deep gratitude to Dr. Sun.
